The gory detailsThe first draft of the script was written using pen and paper from October 1999 to January 2000, then massaged for a few months with ScriptThing for Windows. The second draft (based on comments from Stephen Hull) introduced the mimes, the feminist opera subplot, and the game Deprivations (an actual game that was popular for a time with amateur actors in Waterloo, Ontario). It also expanded the role of the polka band. Fluff was filmed on nine days (July 1, 2, 3, 8, 9, 15, 16, 22, and 23, 2000) in Toronto and Hamilton, Ontario using a Canon XL1 digital video camera. Some days, we had a second XL1 available for funky overhead shots, behind-the-scenes footage, or whatever. The theatre space was rented (for a very reasonable price). The other space was donated by cast members and people who worked with the producer, fixed his teeth, or sold him pornography. Fluff was edited in Bristol, England from September 2000 to June 2002 using a Media 100. The score was recorded at the composer's studio, Turtle Muse Digital Arts, using eMagic's Logic Platinum on a Mac G4 computer. The sound was mixed at Kitchen Sync in Toronto, Canada. |
