Choose your own adventureIt's a cold day in the heartless city. The wind cuts through your flesh like a knife, a really sharp knife like the kind you used for disecting frogs in high school biology class. You look for a place to come in from the cold for a few minutes. You see a bunch of artsy establishments. "Oh good," you think, "I can order pretentious coffee from a waitress with black lipstick who will shrug and say 'whatever'." Then you notice it. A building with an open door and a sign out front that says "Annual General Meeting, All Welcome". Welcome? All? Why not?
You walk through the door, and see a a plain room with no decoration. At the front, a few people who seem to be in charge sit on folding chairs facing the other people. One of them says something about the minutes from last year's Annual General Meeting.
You slip into the audience, right at the back. As someone who's apparently the treasurer drones on about the financial statement (and, you're not an expert on these things, but shouldn't the revenue be at least as much as the expenses?), you doze off. A minute or so later (it can't have been more than a minute, can it?) you notice that everyone's shaking your hand and congratulating you. "You're just what we need." "I'm sure you'll be way better than the last President." "Don't even get us started on the one before that." "It wasn't his fault. He had a ... condition." "Don't forget: 9:00 tomorrow morning we have a meeting with the bank manager." |
